Sex and Sexual Sin: The Church Needs Help
Our staff travels regularly to exhibit and speak at large national conferences and local churches countrywide. Every week, at least one staff member is either driving or flying to another church to help people and pastors navigate a gospel response to the challenges they’re facing regarding issues of sex and sexual sin.
At these events, many people share their struggles and their deep concerns for loved ones. But you may be surprised that we also hear from pastors, elders, counselors, and leaders seeking wisdom. These are seminary-trained, well-educated, experienced, and godly men and women who know the gospel and have walked with hundreds of individuals and families. And yet, when it comes to matters of sex and sexual sin, they often feel out of their depth. They’re not sure what people need.
Confusion about Sex and Sexual Sin . . . in the Church
This is a great burden on our hearts at Harvest USA because we know how pervasive and destructive sexual sin isโnot only in the world but also in the church.
Infidelity tears marriages and families apart. Our youth are exposed daily to pornography and false ideologies regarding sex and sexual sin, gender, and identity. And there are countless hidden heartaches for believers silently burdened by shame, guilt, and isolation. Consider the 30-year-old single woman who only hears about lust being a man’s problem, even though she’s enslaved by pornography. Or the 17-year-old boy who hears about homosexuality as a culture war issue and has given up ever sharing his struggle with same-sex attraction. Or the 60-year-old deacon whoโs carried decades of shame because of his secret cross-dressing.
Helping Churches Faithfully Respond
Harvest USA has a unique opportunity and voice to meet these challenges in the church. Pastors and leaders often see us as a go-to lifeline when they don’t know how to help their people. We consult with pastors every week, and hundreds of individuals in local churches nationwide join our biblical support groups to find the help they desperately need.

We’re also continuing to build a library of articles, books, and videos on these topics that are so vital for our lives in Christ. We recently released our newest online course, Transforming Love: Women, Sexual Struggles, and Help in Christ, and very soon we’ll be releasing our fourth course, Hope in Your Heartbreak: First Steps for Sexually Betrayed Wives. These courses may be the first time for women worldwide, isolated in their pain, shame, and heartache, to hear a Christian voice speak to the deepest issues of their souls.
We’re working hard to create many other resources, too, such as curricula for parents and youth and comprehensive training for churches looking to start ministries to those impacted sexual sin.
Will You Pray and Give?
Because the demand for our ministry has never been greater, weโve more than doubled our staff over the past three years! But the only way we can grow sustainably is if you, our faithful partners, continue to increase your prayerful giving to Harvest USA. Perhaps you’ve already given a one-time gift; would you consider becoming a monthly donor? Maybe you’re a faithful monthly partner; would you pray about increasing that monthly amount? Or perhaps you’ve benefited from Harvest USA’s ministry and materials for many years, but have never given a gift of financial support. Would you join our team today?
We need to hire more laborers to meet the needs before us. As we approach the end of our fiscal year, please join us in this season of growth! The opportunity is great, and we want to follow Paul’s instruction to make the best use of the time because the days are evil (Eph. 5:16).
Thank you for your amazing generosity and vigilance in prayer. The Lord has used you to be a means of sustaining Harvest USA for 42 years. We anticipate that God will not only keep our doors open for many years to come but cause us to bear even greater fruit for his glory and the expansion of his Kingdom.
