Meet Catherine Krasinski
Name: Catherine Krasinski
Hometown: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Position: Women’s ministry staff
Describe your work at Harvest USA. As a member of the women’s ministry team, I’ll be engaging in one-to-one direct ministry with women and bimonthly online groups. I’ll also be taking opportunities to equip churches as they help people impacted by sexual brokenness and sin—both through writing and through attending and speaking at equipping events.
How did you get to Harvest USA? Although I’m originally from the UK, I spent the first years of married life living in Pennsylvania, where I met my husband. We relocated to Northern Ireland when our two children were very young but then returned to Pennsylvania last year due to my husband’s career.
I’d heard about Harvest USA years before, when I was studying biblical counseling at CCEF, and had the privilege of volunteering in one of Ellen Dykas’s Journeyers in Grace groups. I was so richly blessed by this group—not only by the women who attended, but also by the way the gospel spoke into each of our lives in a holistic, sensitive, and grace-filled way. Perhaps I had expected more of a morally black-and-white, behavioristic approach—“We need to stop sinning, and here’s how to do it”—but, praise God, this group and these women blew this idea out of the water!
Although I originally studied medicine and worked for several years as a doctor training in the field of psychiatry, I left this career after getting married and increasingly invested my time and interest in biblical counseling. My experience has involved counseling in my local churches and working alongside a UK-based biblical counseling ministry, Biblical Counselling UK. As I’ve counseled women over the past 14 years, I’ve come across different marital and sexual struggles—often they aren’t front and center but hidden away, perhaps shrouded in shame and doubt. Bringing these struggles into the light has always been good. I’ve seen the Lord work in women’s lives to bring great hope and encouragement.
After we moved back to Pennsylvania and into the neighborhood of Harvest USA, I applied for the women’s ministry staff position and am delighted to join the team.
What is your favorite Scripture or book of the Bible? Proverbs 3:5–8: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones.”
I’ve always loved this passage because it is a call to rest in the Lord—in his knowledge, his understanding, and his wisdom over my own. This isn’t easy to do, but as I grow in the knowledge of God and his character, this call becomes more of a delight. To trust an omniscient, holy God is an invitation to experience deep peace and rest in him, even when things aren’t going as I want or expect.
What is your favorite thing about living in or visiting Philadelphia? Northern Ireland gets a lot of grey skies, rain, and moderate temperatures, so I appreciate the drama of the seasons here—especially the bright autumn leaves against blue skies. The seasons are a reminder of my Creator and his delight in sharing the beauty of his creation with us.
What’s an interesting fact about yourself? I’ve lived in four continents over the course of my life so far and moved more than 25 times! I love the fact that Scripture is full of sojourners—people who have been moved out of their “home country” by the Lord—either called directly by him or moved, sometimes against their will, by their circumstances. But, even more so, I love that Jesus moved from heaven to earth —leaving his perfect home with the Father, to join us on earth—and not in comfort, but in an unsettled life of movement where he had “nowhere to lay his head” (Matt 8:19–21). As someone who loves the idea of home, it’s a great comfort to me that the Lord understands this yearning and will exceed my hopes when he finally shows me the eternal home he has been preparing for us.
