Just What Is Godly Sex?—Part 1

Godly Sex is not simply about personal fulfillment; it’s about reflecting the covenantal love of God. In marriage, sex serves as a tangible expression of commitment and unity, mirroring the self-giving love that Christ shows to His Church. When we understand this purpose, we see that God’s boundaries are not restrictive but deeply purposeful.

It’s essential to reclaim the concept of Godly Sex from the distorted messages of culture. Reducing sex to just a physical act misses the profound spiritual reality that it represents. As Christians, we need to articulate that Godly Sex is not just about physical pleasure but about honoring God through our relationships and choices.

In a world that often disconnects sex from commitment, Christians are called to demonstrate a more beautiful and holistic picture. Godly Sex teaches us that love, sacrifice, and unity go hand in hand. By living out this truth, we not only honor God but also offer a countercultural witness to the world.

Christians seem to know morality when it comes to sex and sexuality, but most are not able to articulate the full picture of what God’s design for sex, sexuality, and pleasure is about. Dave White discusses his two-part blog on the need for Christians to understand the bigger picture that makes God’s boundaries for sex and sexuality understandable and necessary.
